Name: Felicia Brookins

Her 9-5: Xerox Healthcare

Job Title: Learning & Development Consultant

Her After 5: WriteTheVision: Writers Conference

Her morning routine:

My Morning routine for 2016 is to wake up giving praise to God for a new day I have never seen then I  go to the gym and work out for 30 minutes. I come back home and drink a glass of Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with Cayenne Pepper and a splash of pineapple juice.

Why did you start your business?

I started WriteTheVision: Writers Conference because I wanted to meet published authors and learn from their expertise and experience so that I could share that with the community through networking.

Why did you enter this industry?

I chose writing because I have always had the talent to write. I enjoy reading a book so good you can’t put it down until you have read it in its entirety in one day. I also wanted to help promote other authors and encourage individuals to write and publish the book everyone has within them. I love the idea of connecting people together with others who do not mind helping another person make their dreams and aspirations come true.

What challenges did you face launching your business?

The biggest challenge for me has been getting others to sponsor an event that is new to them and is connected to a name they are not familiar with on a broad scale. Also having to budget for the event out of my own personal finances.

Favorite quotes:

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” Proverbs 27:17

3 Things in your purse you cannot live without:

Lipgloss, reading glasses and my compact mirror

Advice I would give to my younger self:

Do not hesitate. Just go for your dreams even if you do not have the finances. It is okay to struggle to make it because you will make it and please stay in school and pursue your Master’s Degree while you have the time.

6 word memoir:

It’s not too late for me.
