Name: Rosalynn Daniels

Location: Currently I spend my time between Northern California and Atlanta, Georgia
I’m a wife and mother who believes in the values of family. I’m just like you. I want to be an amazing wife. I want to give my kid amazing memories, hopefully, the right guidance, and an abundance of love. I believe in the greater good of all people and truly believe that kindness is contagious.
What services does your business offer?
Rosalynn Daniels is a lifestyle brand that puts emphasis on home, decor, food & recipes, entertainment, and motherhood. At RosalynnDaniels.com, you can find tutorials and advice on making your lifestyle more fabulous than ever, in the most efficient way!
Why did you start this business?
With a background in entertainment, food, and event planning, it was only natural for me to combine those talents in order to create an outlet for my true loves; being in front of the camera and DIY entertainment. I was asked so frequently by friends and even complete strangers for pointers on how to make life events more grand and sophisticated, that I decided to share my knowledge with the world through my website which includes video and written tutorials. I put in a lot of time learning how to make things on her own, in order to get exactly what I wanted. Through an assortment of trial and error, I kept notes along the way to help not make those same mistakes again. Now I want to share them with women around the world, who face the same tasks in life as me; entertaining guests, creating mouth watering dishes and amazing atmospheres, all while embracing and enjoying marriage and motherhood. Now, they won’t have to go through the process of figuring out through trial and error like me, because she has already done it for them.
What challenges did you face launching your business?
For the Rosalynn Daniels brand, my biggest challenge was accepting that I may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Getting in front of the camera, and exposing my world to others is beyond nerve wrecking. However, being in front of the camera is my dream, it’s my ultimate goal. I could no longer let fear of rejection dictate my destiny. I really had to self-evaluate and become confident in the fact that I am talented and talent does not disappear just because it is not acknowledged by everyone.
What experiences did you learn from corporate America?
The biggest takeaway I got from Corporate America was that everything is a numbers game. If the numbers aren’t right, then maybe it’s time to make a change. Also, for so many no’s, a yes is on its way!
What helped you transition from corporate employee to entrepreneur?
I saved like I never saved before! I was so miserable at that job, yet nervous to leave the place where I spent so much of my life. For me to feel comfortable with leaving Corporate America forever, I had to make sure that my finances were rock solid. So, I worked towards getting to a place where I felt comfortable leaving.
What tools do you use to help manage your business?
I use Trello for editorial planning. You can share your boards with other people on your team, contractors, etc. I use Adobe Premiere for film editing. I’m still learning but, so far I love this editing program better than others.
“Dream your biggest dream, then sit back and watch God top it!”
3 Things in your purse you cannot live without:
Hand Sanitizer – I have a toddler
Perfume – I like my scent to be memorable
Lip Color/Conditioner – I talk A LOT
Advice I would give to my younger self:
Do what you want, how you want to do it when you want to do it, and don’t care about what anyone has to say about what you are doing! Life is so much easier when you live by your own rules.
Watch out, I’ve only just begun!
